Following the release of South Gloucestershire Council’s “New Local Plan” in December 2023, you may have seen that within their local development strategy, the council has identified our site at The Sawmills, Bath Road, Bridgeyate as a potential plot for 110 new homes.
Bendrey Brothers Ltd. has been operating as a Sawmill and Timber Merchant from the site at Bridgeyate since 1890. Company Directors Chris and Alex Bendrey are proud to be the fifth generation of Bendrey Brothers to actively work within the business.
The Sawmill site and adjoining land at Bath Road, Bridgeyate is owned by the Bendrey family, whilst we are interested in developing the site for our own commercial needs, building houses is not our intention.
Over many years our family has worked hard to establish and develop our Timber Merchant business, we have deep roots within the Bristol and Bath Timber Trade. We have supplied our products to several generations of customers within our local community; we provide hundreds of local trade customers with essential products needed to run their businesses; we also provide employment within our local area. We are very proud of our heritage and are keen to continue for many years to come.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers, employees and suppliers for 134 years of trade. We hope this statement addresses any concerns. The Sawmill site has not been sold for development, we plan to continue trading as normal for the foreseeable future.
