At Bendrey Brothers, we're Timber Merchants who are dedicated to providing the highest quality building timber products at the most competitive prices. We're frequently asked a lot of questions about our products and services, so we've compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) to help inform the public.
Opening Hours
What are your opening hours?
Our normal opening hours are:
Monday to Friday: 8.00am – 5.00pm
Saturday Mornings: 8.00am – 12.00pm
Do you close for lunch?
No, we stay open throughout our normal opening hours.
What is the latest time I can arrive at your shop to place / collect an order?
We close at 5.00pm through the week and 12.00pm on Saturdays, providing you arrive before we close our tills, we will do our best to process your order and get you loaded before we leave.
Are you open during bank holidays?
No, we close for all England and Wales Bank Holidays, including all Saturdays before a Bank Holiday Monday.
What are your Christmas opening hours?
We always close for the duration of Christmas and new year. Our closure dates vary from year to year depending when Christmas falls, you can check our Christmas closure dates here
Orders
I’m not sure which products I need for my project, can you help?
Yes, we love the opportunity to quote for projects. If you show us some images of what you would like to build and a rough sketch/diagram with measurements, we can calculate and quote for the relevant materials for your project. You are welcome to discuss your requirements in person at our shop, by phone (0117 9674382) or by email (info@bendreybros.co.uk). We do not charge for quotations and there is no obligation to purchase.
Do you do installation?
No, we do not do any installation, we only supply materials. If you are looking for an installer for your project, we can recommend one of our regular trade customers.
Can I place an order and get someone else to collect it for me?
Yes, that is no problem. The person collecting will be asked to confirm our Sales Order Number (e.g. SOR03874) the name that the order relates to and roughly what they are collecting. It is easiest if you give them a copy of our order confirmation to avoid any confusion.
Can I buy a part-length of timber?
We can only sell full pieces of timber when you purchase via our website.
To ask us about shorter than standard or part-pieces; call 0117 9674382, or visit our shop. We don't like to waste timber either! We try to be flexible and will accommodate when practical, we may have a partially damaged product that we can cut to your required size or sell cheaper. Tell us what you need and we will check to see what we can offer you.
Do you offer a cutting Service?
Yes, we do offer a cutting service, we offer basic timber machining including:
Cutting to length
Cutting to width
Tilting fillet (angled cuts)
Cutting notches
Birds mouth notches for knee rail fencing
Drilling holes up to 100mm diameter
Payment
Can I pay with cash?
Yes, when you visit our shop you are welcome to pay with cash at our sales counter. We do not accept cash on delivery.
Can I pay by Cheque?
Yes, we accept cheques but the payment will need to clear at the bank before we will release the goods.
Can I pay for an order by phone?
Yes, we accept payments of up to £1000 by phone. Phone payments are subject to payment fraud checks.
Delivery
What is your delivery lead time?
Our in-house delivery service for ‘in stock’ items is typically 3-5 working days, we aim to deliver as quickly as possible. Sometimes we are able to deliver at shorter notice but this is not always possible, please plan ahead. You don’t appear to deliver to my area, can you deliver to me?
We are based in Bristol (BS30 5JW), we use our own vehicles for local deliveries in these areas https://www.bendreybros.co.uk/delivery-rates.
We can offer nationwide parcel and pallet delivery for small items, we can also arrange for a private courier or haulier for nationwide and/or bulk delivery.

Can you deliver to my customers address?
Yes, we can deliver direct to site.
If you need the ordered materials to be available when you arrive on site, we recommend that you request goods to be delivered the day before the project is due to start to prevent any delays.
Can I book a delivery time?
No, we try our best to accomodate customer requests, unfortunately it is not always possible or practical to arrive at an address at a particular time.
When you place an order with us for delivery, initially we will book a delivery day. We normally arrange our delivery routes 1-2 days before delivery is due. At that point we will know what each of our delivery vehicles is delivering, where they are going and the order of their drops. Delivering timber is not as straightforward and predictable as delivering small parcels but if you call us the day before delivery is due, we should be able to give you an indication of estimated delivery time. On the delivery day, our delivery driver will call you when they are on their way to you.
Buying from Bendrey Brothers
I can’t find the product I need on your website.
All of our stocked products are shown on our website. If there is an item that you can’t find, please get in touch by calling 0117 9674382 or email info@bendreybros.co.uk. The product may be stocked but difficult to find. If we don’t stock the product, we may be able to source it for you. We work with many suppliers and manufacturers; we may be able to source exactly what you are looking for at a competitive price.
Can I buy Oak from you?
We keep good stock levels of Oak sleepers & offer a limited range of high quality Oak flooring. If you are looking to purchase constructional Oak, you may find what you need at The Oak Yard, they are a separate company in the yard next door.
